See With Your Own Eyes

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

Einstein wrote this in his 1931 essay collection, published as Europe tilted toward conformity and mass political movements that demanded obedience over independent thought. He had spent his career as a scientist willing to question laws that everyone else accepted as settled, and he saw that same courage as necessary in ordinary life. The line reflects his conviction that real freedom starts before any vote or protest — it starts with trusting your own perception instead of borrowing someone else's. For readers today, it's a reminder that autonomy is often a quiet, daily choice to see and feel things for yourself.

Reflection

Einstein prized independent thought over borrowed opinions. Where today can I trust my own judgment instead of someone else's?
