Stand Firm Through The Storm
Even in a world that's being shipwrecked, remain brave and strong.
Hildegard of Bingen was a twelfth-century Benedictine abbess, visionary, and composer who spent much of her later life defending her community against political and ecclesiastical turmoil, including a formal interdict placed on her convent near the end of her life. Even while ill and under pressure from church authorities, she continued writing, composing, and corresponding with popes and kings. This line, long attributed to her and passed down through generations of readers, captures the spirit of her own life: steady work carried out inside real chaos. It speaks to anyone today who feels their circumstances are falling apart around them but still has work worth finishing.
Reflection
Hildegard kept working through hardship many would call impossible. What is one task on my calendar that I will do today no matter what?
