Sell a country! Why not sell the air, the great sea, as well as the earth?

— Tecumseh, Speech to Governor William Henry Harrison, 1810

Tecumseh spoke these words at Vincennes, Indiana, face to face with the man who would later become his primary military opponent. He was building a coalition of Native nations against land cession treaties he considered fraudulent, knowing the odds were long and the window was closing. The question in his words is not despair — it is refusal, the kind that takes years of sustained effort to maintain. It reminds us that persistence is not always about moving forward; sometimes it is about holding your ground when every practical signal says to give way.

Reflection

Tecumseh spent years working toward something most people around him considered impossible. What is one thing you have stopped working on, not because it failed, but because it took too long?
