Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us.

In 1990, at Sagan's urging, the Voyager 1 spacecraft turned back for one last look at Earth from 3.7 billion miles away, capturing it as a single point of light suspended in a sunbeam. Sagan wrote about that photograph in his 1994 book Pale Blue Dot, reflecting on how it collapsed every claim to greatness, every border, and every reputation into one small dot. He had spent his career arguing against human self-importance, and this image gave him proof: from far enough away, our titles and status vanish and only the bare fact of being human remains. That is the heart of authenticity — seeing past the roles we perform to what is actually there.
