Let Joy Move You

Your love has made me dance.

Bulleh Shah was an eighteenth-century Punjabi Sufi poet who lived in Kasur, at a time when religious clerics on all sides policed how devotion should look and sound. He scandalized the orthodox by dancing publicly with his spiritual teacher's community, insisting that real love for the divine could not stay locked inside doctrine or decorum. This line comes from one of his most beloved kafis, sung for centuries, where joy arrives in the body before the mind has time to explain or justify it. It speaks to today because it treats joy not as a reward for understanding beauty, but as beauty's natural, immediate effect.

Reflection

Bulleh Shah found joy not in explanation but in motion and surrender. What is one moment today where I can let myself feel pure joy?
