The heart is the primary organ of perception.
Bourgeault wrote this while drawing on the Christian contemplative tradition, particularly the Desert Fathers and the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff. She was working against a cultural assumption that the mind is the right tool for navigating life. The line matters for acceptance because it points to something practical: when the mind keeps arguing with reality, the heart can simply register what is true and move from there.
