Jin prem kio tin hi prabh paio." — Bhai Gurdas, Vaaran, Vaar 1
Bhai Gurdas Ji wrote during the time of the early Sikh Gurus, serving as a scribe to Guru Arjan Dev Ji during the compilation of the Guru Granth Sahib. He witnessed devotion tested by persecution, political upheaval, and the martyrdom of the fifth Guru himself. In that crucible, he returned again and again to this truth: love is not a feeling that fluctuates with circumstance but the very ground of union with the Divine. For us today, equanimity is not detachment from life but the stillness that comes from being rooted in something that does not change.
Reflection
Equanimity asks us to examine what we are actually anchored to. When the world disturbs your peace, what does that disturbance reveal about where your love truly lives?
