The Master observes the world but trusts his inner vision. — Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Lao Tzu taught that wisdom comes not from grasping at external events, but from cultivating inner clarity. In ancient China, this meant accepting the natural flow of life rather than forcing outcomes through willpower alone. Today, his insight cuts through our illusion of control, reminding us that peace emerges when we align with what we can actually influence: our character, choices, and response to difficulty.

Reflection

When plans crumble or circumstances disappoint, what inner principles steady you? Can you identify one value—honesty, courage, or compassion—that remains wholly within your power regardless of what happens next?
